Farewell, 2007!
(credit to the Chicago Tribune’s longtime columnist Mary Schmich, published originally December 2005) YEAR IN REVIEW When you consciously review your year, you may notice how little you noticed it as it whizzed past. To review is to re-view. To rewind, pause, look again. And in looking again, to see more clearly. You may be astonished by how much happened. And how much didn’t. By how...
Home for the Holidays
So I made it back to Texas in one piece, despite the crying baby next to me on the 3.5 hour flight from NY to Dallas. I love being home at Christmastime. My family has lots of fun traditions, like waking up at 4 a.m. to see if Santa came. It’s great. On Christmas Eve we go to the evening candlelight service at church and then look at lights and the kids get to open one present. Then we make...
Sometimes you make me want to own a shotgun.

Picture time!
I’ve been neglecting tumblr lately, so to make it up to you, I’ll bombard you with photos taken via Blackberry. Tomorrow I’m going back to Texas and I’ll even get to visit CS and DFW! An eight-day vacay with family, friends and Emma. What more could I ask for? My birthday dinner at Klong with my favorite girls. From left: Heather, Jenny, Anjali, me, Sara and Melissa. I...

Sara: I just thought of a really good way for us to make some serious $$$
me: Go on...
Sara: Stealing luggage at baggage claim. We could steal everything inside.
Sara: There are like 10 bags sitting next to me right now and no one is even claiming them. I'm sure they're full of goodies we could pawn.
me: You know, one of these days you're going to be arrested and I won't have enough money to bail you out.
Sara: Speaking of which, I almost got arrested last night.
Unbelievable. I do the nicest thing that anyone has ever done for these people...

It finally happened
Sara and I made the trek to the West Vil so we could partake in the delicious goodness of Magnolia cupcakes. I have eaten a lot of cupcakes in my day, but I am convinced that these are the best ever. (Sorry, Buttercup Bakeshop! You’re a close second.)
Another year older...
So as of Wednesday, I have officially been on this earth for 23 years. I feel so old! My first birthday in the city was fabulous, and I’m hoping to enjoy many more. It even snowed! And I walked through the set of Law & Order! My favorite part of birthdays is hearing from everyone you don’t get to talk to on a regular basis. I enjoyed all the phone calls and messages from people in...
Sara: youre not allowed to talk about simon anymore
me: but he's my friend :(
Sara: no
me: sara. you can't break the bond of friendship bread.
Sara: yes you can. friendship bread is just a fancy word for a big cinnamon-flavored brick
It's the most wonderful time of the year (pt. 2)
When you live in Manhattan, you don’t have much money to spend on Christmas decor. Sara and I found this tiny tree today at the dollar store and proceeded to decorate it until it looked like someone had vomited Christmas all over it. If by “Christmas” you mean “glitter glue, earrings and spray paint.” We also have a tiny nutcracker and an A&M santa hat hanging...
It's the most wonderful time of the year
I love the holidays! If it were 60 degrees outside that would make the season absolutely perfect, but I’ll deal with the cold because NYC is BEAUTIFUL right now. Sara and I went by Rockefeller Plaza to take a look at the tree and watch the ice skaters wipe out. The only thing that would have made it better is a Starbucks in my hand. And maybe Emma. I took all these with my Blackberry, so...
